Grief like a river
You must swim across, careful
So as not to drown.

I cannot dive in.
There are others I care for
Who depend on me.

They cling to my arms,
Together we wade, slowly;
Feet step, tears flowing.

The other bank, dim;
Peace and  memories lie there
Waiting to be found.

We can make it there,
But first we must be willing
To get ourselves wet.

Mom, Cheshire Cat-like
Fading a little each day
Leaving just those eyes.

Winter in my heart
Sunshine blooming spring outside
Grief cannot slow life
